DSPs are expected to foster positive interpersonal relationships, demonstrate strong work habits, and maintain confidentiality while acting as an encourager, counselor, teacher, and advocate for the individuals they support. The role demands physical ability to assist individuals, including lifting and moving, and requires working in various indoor and outdoor environments, including noisy conditions and hydrotherapy pools.
