Direct Support Professional
About The Position
Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are needed to join the team at Merakey's program in Richmond, VA. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong desire to make a long-term impact on the lives of others, enjoying the process of encouraging, mentoring, and coaching individuals to achieve their goals. The DSP will foster pride in individuals by teaching them daily living activities such as housekeeping and laundry. Work is performed under the supervision of the House Manager, with evaluations based on observation of activities, resident responsiveness, living area inspection, reports, and meetings. The role involves enhancing independence by assisting with daily and personal activities.
Requirements
- HS Diploma or GED
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to operate a vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license
Nice To Haves
- 1+ year experience in a home health aide setting or school setting working with people who have intellectual and developmental disabilities.
