About The Position

Dungarvin is seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support children and teens (ages 12–21) with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their residential program. This is a summer position with the possibility of transferring to permanent staff after the summer schedule ends. The role involves providing direct support, hands-on instruction, assistance, and positive direction to ensure the health, safety, and personal goals of the individuals served. It requires patience, creativity, and dedication to guide and empower young lives.

Requirements

  • 6 months of professional work experience supporting vulnerable populations required (ex. caregiver, nanny, paraeducator, direct support professional, etc.)
  • 6 months of volunteer experience may be used in lieu of professional work experience.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older per Washington state licensing requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Have a passion to help youth through person-centered care
  • Dependable, adaptable, and flexible
  • Must be able to provide references
  • Able to attend two weeks of PAID in-house orientation and training
  • Good communication skills (reading, writing, and communication) to document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with team members.

Responsibilities

  • Enrich and support the lives of our residents while maintaining a safe and healthy environment
  • Provide companionship and personalized care while encouraging independence and self-care.
  • Assist with activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, and eating.
  • Prepare meals and snacks.
  • Perform light housekeeping and laundry duties.
  • Provide mobility and transfer assistance, which may include using mechanical lift devices.
  • Implement positive behavior supports and de-escalate challenging behaviors when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned
