About The Position

This role involves providing direct support to clients, following their specific support plans to foster personal growth and independence. The specialist will ensure client safety and well-being, assist with daily living activities, maintain a safe living environment, and administer medications. Accurate documentation, accompanying clients on outings, and monitoring other DSP performance are key responsibilities. The role also requires reporting changes in client health or behavior and maintaining confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive understanding of client’s support needs and behaviors.
  • Proficiency in healthcare software applications.
  • Demonstrated fluency in the English language (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • Ability to handle emergencies calmly and effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to pass a background check in compliance with WAC 246-335.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Reliable vehicle with auto insurance and a clean driving record.
  • Completion of required training programs as specified by WAC 246-335.
  • Current certification as a Home Care Aide (HCA) or Nursing Assistant Certified (NAC) as required by state regulations.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

  • Follow client specific support plans to promote personal growth and independence.
  • Ensure client safety and well-being, especially during challenging moments.
  • Teach and assist with activities of daily living (bathing, cleaning, cooking, grooming, meal preparation, personal hygiene, toileting).
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized living environment.
  • Monitor and administer medications as prescribed, documenting errors.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation (incident reports, progress notes, daily logs).
  • Accompany, support, and encourage client participation in outings and community activities.
  • Assist with or provide transportation and ensure safety during outings.
  • Cover open shifts to ensure uninterrupted client services.
  • Monitor DSP performance, provide feedback, and report concerns.
  • Report changes in client health, behavior, or home conditions promptly.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all personal information.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
