Our Services for People with Disabilities team is searching for dedicated, compassionate caregiver to work part-time (10-24 hrs/week, 24-29 hrs/week or PT30+) as a Direct Support Professional in Dubuque area. The Iowans we serve are seeking a life of greater confidence and independence, and it's our privilege to empower them toward success every day. Rewarding job with flexible hours, no weekends, no holidays and hours will vary from daytime to some evenings hours. (Sessions are typically within 10 am to 6 pm timeframe.) Hours can increase to 30+ hours/week when caseload is built and if desired. This position works one on one with children and some adults for 2 to 3 hour sessions in their home or in the community. This is a great position to gain experience in the human services field! Our Services for People with Disabilities wrap care around individuals across the state, from providing occasional respite care or weekly services, to 24/7 support in either a shared apartment environment or one-on-one care through our hourly supported community living (SCL) program. Requirements

• High school diploma or a GED.
• Computer skills to complete documentation and trainings.
• A valid driver's license.
• Auto insurance.
• A good driving record.
• Ability to pass an extensive background check including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, Sex Offender registry and a criminal history check.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with Supported Community Living (SCL) or with people with disabilities is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Works with adults and children with intellectual disabilities or chronic mental illness.
• Meets with multiple individuals one at a time, spending two to four hours with each of them.
• Provide support, assistance, and instruction in learning independent living skills like: Money management, Socialization, Cooking, Personal hygiene.
• Complete documentation and trainings.
