About The Position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for a variety of duties related to providing support and care for individuals living in Skill Creations, Inc. facilities, who have needs in the area of physical /medical care, behavioral support, cognitive support and independent living. The Direct Support Professional provides care according to the specific needs of the individuals. This includes but is not limited assistance and education with personal care, medication administration and independent living skills. Direct Support Professionals also help to transport/accompany individuals to activities in the community and to local or out of town appointments.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED from an accredited school.
Criminal Record Check.
Prompt and regular attendance for assigned work schedule.
Includes working during inclement weather and some holidays.
A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Course work will be required for successful completion of CPR/First Aid and Behavior Management.
Basic computer skills are needed for e-mail, electronic training modules and recording data.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Work occasionally requires balancing, bending, stooping and kneeling.
Employee to be on his or her feet most of the time.

Nice To Haves

On call responsibility after positioned in DSP position.
Additional training to be on call person.
Responsible assurance of following training, fulfilling duties 1 week every 5-6 wks; additional bonus pay for this week.
