The Direct Support Professional supervises adults with disabilities, using reasonable actions to ensure the safety and well-being of each adult, effectively communicate facility and programmatic behavioral expectations and limitations to adults, and maintain compliance with agency policies and procedures and established state and federal standards and requirements. This role involves working as support to homes House Manager and assisting to maintain a safe, comfortable, home-like environment for residents. The position also requires assisting each resident toward the achievement of active treatment goals, working both formally and informally to provide active treatment through all activities and interactions as trained and documenting formal active treatment. The Direct Support Professional will observe and document resident behaviors on appropriate forms, report serious incidents, assist residents with personal hygiene, prompt and train residents on daily living skills, attend staffings, provide transportation for residents, supervise residents in medication self-administration, conduct fire and emergency preparedness drills, and communicate with supervisors regarding resident needs and problems. The role also involves promoting resident independence, advocating for residents' rights, and ensuring compliance with all policies and guidelines.
