Direct Support Professional Residential Overnight
About The Position
The Direct Support Professional assists in providing self-care training, therapeutic treatments, and assistance in daily living to developmentally disabled individuals attending the agency's respite facility. In the residential program, the most caring people are the trained staff who provide 24-hour supervision, care, and guidance to residents. They assist with personal care needs, cleaning, cooking, medications, and activities. The Arc Madison Cortland is a non-profit agency whose sole purpose lies in the support of people with special needs. We provide leadership in the field of disabilities, supporting people in every manner possible, and developing the necessary human and financial resources to allow all members of our community to achieve their full potential.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
Responsibilities
- Must stay awake and not place themselves in a compromising position/place that is conducive to sleep
- Continuously assess the status of the physical building and the individuals throughout the duration of the shift.
- Provides individualized care as outlined in the individuals Life Plan, or ISP.
- Supports the residents to ensure their safety and well being.
- Observes, documents and communicates pertinent information such as behaviors, nursing, nutrition, clinical issues, etc., to facilitate assessment and development of treatment goals.
- Assist with personal care needs, cleaning, cooking, medications, and activities.
