Direct Support Professional - PRN
About The Position
Merakey is seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join their team in Redding, CA. This role involves providing personal care and support to clients with intellectual/developmental disabilities in a residential setting. The DSP will assist with daily living activities, ensure a safe environment, and participate in client activities. The position offers a pay rate of $17.50 per hour, with an additional $2 per hour night shift differential. Merakey is a non-profit provider of developmental, behavioral health, and education services with a mission to enhance the health, safety, dignity, and contentment of every consumer served.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- A valid driver's license is required
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Activities of Daily Living (ADL's) preferred, especially personal hygiene, grooming, and bathing
- Prior experience in a caregiving, personal care assistant, or home health aide role is a PLUS!
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care and support to clients who live in the home.
- Assist with activities of daily living and personal hygiene needs including toileting and incontinence care, bathing, dressing, and grooming, while maintaining dignity and privacy.
- Light housekeeping, meal preparation and feeding, and companionship.
- Help with ambulation, transferring and range of motion exercises.
- Ensure a safe home environment with unobstructed pathways.
- Participate in activities that bring clients joy such as puzzles, games, reading and attending day program.
- Interact and support individuals with development disabilities in a variety of potential settings including community, family or individual homes and generic community settings.
- Assist and train individuals in the areas of personal care, communication, and social skill development.
