About The Position

The Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is seeking dedicated, caring, and compassionate individuals to join their team as Direct Support Professionals/Overnight Residential Counselors. DPD is one of the largest Catholic Charities Agencies providing care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the United States. The Residential Counselor is a direct care professional responsible for assisting residents in group homes with their personal health, safety, and welfare. This includes helping with personal care, participating in household tasks, administering medication, communicating effectively, driving residents to appointments and activities, daily documentation, and assisting with community-based activities.

Requirements

Motivated to work as part of a team that acts in the best interest of our residents at all times.
High school diploma or equivalent.
A valid (non-provisional) driver's license.
Ability to meet the physical requirements of CPR/First Aid and emergency evacuation procedures.
Successful completion/passing of criminal background check, reference check, DMV check, fingerprinting, pre-employment physical, and drug test.
Attendance at a monthly Staff Meeting (date/time to be determined).

Nice To Haves

Experience with ID/DD population is a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas such as bathing and toileting.
Participate and/or supervise in cleaning, cooking, and life skills development.
Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and residents.
Drive residents to/from day programs, outside, and within their community using agency vehicles.
Provide daily documentation of services provided.
Assist with community-based activities.
