About The Position

The Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is seeking dedicated, caring, and compassionate individuals to join their team as Direct Support Professionals/Overnight Residential Counselors. This role is crucial in supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in group home settings. The primary responsibility is to ensure the personal health, safety, and welfare of residents, assisting and/or supervising them in personal care, daily living activities, and medication administration. The position also involves driving residents to various appointments and activities, daily documentation, and facilitating community-based engagement.

Requirements

Motivated to work as part of a team that acts in the best interest of residents.
High school diploma or equivalent.
A valid (non-provisional) driver's license.
Ability to meet the physical requirements of CPR/First Aid and emergency evacuation procedures.
Must attend a monthly Staff Meeting (date/time to be determined).
Successful completion/passing of criminal background check, reference check, DMV check, fingerprinting, pre-employment physical, and drug test.

Nice To Haves

Experience with ID/DD population is a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas such as bathing and toileting.
Participate and/or supervise in cleaning, cooking, and life skills development.
Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and residents.
Drive residents to/from day programs, and within their community using agency vehicles.
Provide daily documentation of services rendered.
Assist with community-based activities.
