The Role: The Per Diem Overnight Direct Support Professional provides awake overnight supervision and support to individuals across Chapel Haven's residential programs, filling in as needed at REACH, SAIL, or SLP residences. This role helps ensure consistent, safe, and person-centered overnight coverage agency-wide and requires the flexibility to work across multiple program sites and teams.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently overnight and exercise sound, effective judgement and decision-making without direct on-site supervision.
  • Availability and flexibility to work per diem, on-call overnight shifts, potentially with short notice, across multiple program locations.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between REACH, SAIL, and SLP program sites as assigned.
  • Ability to take direction and work effectively within different teams across programs.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with individuals served, families, staff, and the general public.
  • Cultural sensitivity and a proven ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; computer literacy.
  • Strong organizational skills and a positive, adaptable work attitude.
  • Obtain and maintain in-service requirements and certifications (e.g., medication administration, CPR/First Aid) as mandated by Chapel Haven Schleifer Center.
  • Valid Connecticut driver's license required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience supporting adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and/or autism.
  • Familiarity with DDS systems and/or CARF standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide awake overnight supervision and support to individuals at the assigned residence (REACH, SAIL, or SLP) for each scheduled shift.
  • Complete periodic apartment/residence checks throughout the shift as needed.
  • Assist individuals with morning routines as needed, including waking for medication, monitoring grooming, and monitoring morning meal preparation.
  • Monitor residential systems, including cameras, phones, and email communications, and respond appropriately to needs and inquiries.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies or urgent situations involving residents.
  • Administer medication as needed, in accordance with individual support plans and CHSC medication protocols.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation, including overnight logs and incident reports, specific to the program worked that shift.
  • Communicate clearly with outgoing and incoming staff at the start and end of each shift to ensure continuity of care.
  • Provide assistance to families and staff who contact Chapel Haven after normal business hours.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and security of the residential environment during assigned shifts.
  • Attend staff meetings and required trainings as scheduled.
  • Support a respectful, person-centered atmosphere aligned with agency mission and values, adapting to the norms and routines of whichever program is staffed.
