About The Position
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Direct Support Professional Lead (DSP Lead) to provide leadership and direct care support for adults with developmental disabilities in residential, community, and/or day program settings. This role combines hands-on care, staff supervision, and program coordination to ensure individuals receive high-quality, person-centered services that promote independence, dignity, and community integration.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 1–2 years of experience in a group home, caregiving, or developmental disabilities setting preferred
- Prior supervisory or lead experience preferred
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Basic to advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office, documentation systems)
- CPR / First Aid
- Medication Administration Training
- De-escalation/ Behavioral Intervention Training
Responsibilities
- Supervise and support Direct Support Professionals (DSPs)
- Develop monthly staff schedules and maintain required staffing ratios per DBHDD and organizational guidelines
- Monitor staff performance and ensure completion of required documentation
- Provide coaching, guidance, and follow-up with team members
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs) including grooming, hygiene, meals, and mobility
- Support communication, social skills, and independence
- Provide transportation to appointments, community outings, and activities
- Implement and support Individual Service Plans (ISPs)
- Participate in ISP, IDT, and team meetings
- Assist individuals in setting and achieving personal goals using person-centered tools
- Assist with medication administration and monitor for side effects
- Follow dietary guidelines and monitor food intake
- Implement de-escalation techniques and respond to behavioral needs
- Ensure a safe, clean, and supportive environment
- Complete accurate and timely documentation and reports
- Ensure compliance with DBHDD, DHS, and company policies
- Report incidents, medication errors, and safety concerns promptly
