About The Position

The Peer Trainer DSP provides challenging, meaningful activities that promote personal growth to adults with varying disabilities attending the Day Program. As the lead person on shift, this position ensures staff are properly trained and all required regulations are met including the incident management process and the proper delivery of all services. The program provides an environment that is person centered and reflects the needs, interests, abilities, and desires of the participants. The mission of Seven Hills Foundation is to promote and encourage the empowerment of people with significant challenges so that each may pursue their highest possible degree of personal well-being and independence.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License & Good Driving Record.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • One year of prior experience in staff/team leadership, including but not limited to, training and assessing staff, helping team members understand and implement program and individual objectives, monitoring team performance, providing real-time constructive feedback, problem solving, and team building.

Responsibilities

  • Peer Trainer DSP assumes a leadership role and models appropriate support strategies to staff while providing ongoing learning opportunities.
  • Ensures all billable services are accurately documented and reconciled by deadline.
  • Ensures all social activities and community integration are meaningful and well-planned.
  • Participates in the Incident Review process and ensures all required regulations are met.
  • Provides therapeutically based skills training in functional life skills, vocational, self-direction, community utilization, socialization, and communication.
  • Offers opportunities for choice, initiation, and risk taking while capitalizing on each person’s capabilities, strengths, and preferences.
  • May provide transportation and accompany individuals on community outings and volunteering assignments, using personal and agency vehicles.
  • Assistance with personal care may also be required while promoting independence.
  • Works within a multidisciplinary team following all support plans, including behavior plans, and is responsible for accurate documentation.
  • Staff are provided a paid New Employee Orientation and receive training on CPR/First Aid, Safety Care, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration.
  • Comprehensive program-specific training at the work site is also provided.
