About The Position

Easterseals PORT Health is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide care and support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in residential homes. This role involves assisting individuals with daily living activities, personal care, employment support, transportation, errands, schedule planning, and documentation. The position requires the DSP to stay on-site for their shift duration and clock out for an 8-hour sleep period each night. This is a vital role in empowering individuals to live their best lives and offering much-needed support to families.

Requirements

A high school diploma or GED is required.
Basic housekeeping knowledge.
Basic nutrition knowledge.
Basic safety protocols knowledge.
Interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail.
Dependability.
Proficiency with EHR systems or technically savvy to learn.
Reliable transportation and current auto insurance.

Nice To Haves

Entry-level candidates are welcome as on-the-job training is provided.

Responsibilities

Provide care in the home of the individual and the community.
Assist with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning.
Assist with personal care such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and changing diapers.
Provide employment support.
Transport clients to appointments and run errands.
Help plan and organize client schedules.
Perform daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health system.
