About The Position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) for Employment Services provides direct instructional support to individuals employed in the community. This role involves delivering curriculum-based lessons and community experiences to foster career exploration, community building, employment retention, and ongoing skill development. The DSP will also support unemployed individuals in exploring the world of work through community involvement and curriculum delivery. This position requires flexible hours, including potential weekend and evening availability, to accommodate the varying schedules of the individuals being supported.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working with individuals with disabilities
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable with the agency carrier.
  • Must complete the Agency’s Employee Training
  • Certification and training, including but not limited to customized employment, CPR, first aid, PMT (Psychological/Physical Management Training), and DDS medication administration.
  • Experience with Microsoft products, use of email, and Therap preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide job upkeep and/or enhancement for individuals employed in the community, including working toward certifications, upward mobility, identifying additional career opportunities, soft skills, and AT assessments.
  • Provide job maintenance support for individuals employed in the community, including delivering curriculum-based lessons.
  • Provide job exploration opportunities and curriculum-based lessons to unemployed individuals.
  • Provide transportation for community experiences utilizing an ACCARC vehicle.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive data collection, including daily data collection, reports, and attendance.
  • Attend, participate in, and provide information for Individual Plan (IP) meetings or any other meetings related to the assigned caseload.
  • Develop and maintain a cooperative relationship with a variety of community organizations, community venues, and businesses to provide meaningful opportunities for inclusion and/or job placements/volunteer opportunities.
  • Maintain regular contact and communication with the director/designee regarding individuals, concerns, and updates.
