About The Position

Waystone is seeking a compassionate and dependable Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide essential support and companionship to individuals in a residential home setting. As a Residential Skills Instructor or Awake Overnight staff, you will assist individuals with daily activities, including feeding, cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, documentation, and medication administration. You will also transport individuals to appointments and community activities using a wheelchair van. During overnight shifts, you will remain alert, conduct wellness checks, and provide personal care support. This role requires empathy, patience, and reliability.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English to accurately follow care plans, document services provided, and communicate effectively with individuals, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Experience in providing training, case management and appropriate service delivery to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in the community.
  • Valid Driver’s License in good standing with a minimum of one year of driving experience.

Nice To Haves

  • MAP (Medication Administration Program) Certification; training is offered by Waystone to acquire certification within 6 months of employment.
  • CPR/First Aid; training is offered by Waystone to acquire certification within 3 months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with daily living activities such as personal hygiene assistance (toileting assistant/brief changing), bathing, dressing, feeding, grooming, transferring, and meal preparation.
  • Assist with heavy lifting and driving wheelchair accessible company vans.
  • Transport individuals to appointments, community events, or recreational activities.
  • Complete Individual Support Plans (ISP) to support individuals in achieving personal goals and promoting independence.
  • Complete daily logs and notes, track behavioral data.
  • Assist with medication administration and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Provide companionship, mentorship, and redirecting behaviors.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive residential program.
  • Uphold individual’s rights, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintain the program’s staff to resident ratio, money management, providing home management, and redirecting behaviors.
