The Direct Support Professional works on an interdisciplinary team that delivers superior quality of service and provides appropriate activities in a safe and healthy environment within the home and community setting. Essential duties include assisting clients in basic living skills and daily personal tasks such as showers, dressing, housekeeping, grocery shopping, preparing and planning meals, and financial budgeting. The role also involves providing transportation to and from activities and appointments, maintaining communication between staff regarding clients' needs and progress, completing required documentation, and adhering to medication management guidelines. The DSP is expected to organize and carry out recreational activities, serve as a role model, and treat clients and their families with dignity and respect. Maintenance of facilities and vehicles, attending training, and maintaining confidentiality are also key aspects of the position. This is a safety-sensitive position.
