About The Position

Waystone is seeking a compassionate and dependable Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join their team in Haverhill, MA. As a Residential Skills Instructor or Awake Overnight staff, you will provide essential support and companionship to individuals with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities, acquired brain injuries, and mental health diagnoses. This role involves assisting individuals with daily activities in a residential home setting, ensuring their well-being and promoting independence. The position offers opportunities for growth within the organization and is part of a mission-driven team dedicated to partnering with diverse individuals throughout their life journeys.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Candidates must be able to read, write, and comprehend English to accurately follow care plans, document services provided, and communicate effectively with individuals, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Experience in providing training, case management and appropriate service delivery to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in the community.
  • Valid Driver’s License in good standing with a minimum of one year of driving experience.

Nice To Haves

  • MAP (Medication Administration Program) Certification; training is offered by Waystone to acquire certification within 6 months of employment.
  • CPR/First Aid; training is offered by Waystone to acquire certification within 3 months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with daily living activities such as personal hygiene assistance (toileting assistant/brief changing), bathing, dressing, feeding, grooming, transferring, and meal preparation.
  • Able and willing to assist with heavy lifting and driving wheelchair accessible company vans.
  • Responsible for transporting our individuals to appointments, community events, or recreational activities.
  • Complete Individual Support Plans (ISP) to support our individuals in achieving personal goals and promoting independence.
  • Complete daily logs and notes, track behavioral data.
  • Assist with medication administration and maintain accurate documentation, as required.
  • Provide companionship, mentorship, and redirecting behaviors.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive residential program.
  • Uphold individual’s rights, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintaining the program’s staff to resident ratio, money management, providing home management, and redirecting behaviors.
  • Remain alert and attentive during overnight hours, conducting routine wellness checks on individuals, and providing personal care support, including toileting assistance and brief changes as needed.
