About The Position

Carey Services is a community-based organization that supports individuals with diverse abilities, fostering independence and promoting a fulfilling life. As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact by supporting individuals with intellectual, physical, or developmental disabilities. This role involves helping individuals achieve their life goals, promoting community inclusion, and assisting with daily living tasks. The position offers a chance for personal and professional growth within a supportive and inclusive environment.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Adequate automobile insurance
  • Meet agency insurability requirements
  • Must be able to learn basic principles of teaching (instruction provided)
  • Good basic mathematical computation skills
  • Good English Language writing skills
  • Ability to walk, bend, stoop or stand for extended periods
  • Must be able to assist in lifting or transferring individuals to and from wheelchairs
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, masks, gowns, face shields, shoes, ear plugs, etc.
  • Must be able to follow all required safe and universal precaution practices during a pandemic and as required otherwise
  • Must know first aid, health & safety measures or build an acceptable competence level by post-hire training (as required by specific job requirements)

  • Doing arts, crafts and creative things together
  • Transporting individuals to and from facilities in compliance with safety regulations
  • Playing games and doing fun activities
  • Maintaining timely and accurate records for billing, notes and other documentation.
  • Provides direct support, instruction, and assistance to persons with disabilities (I/DD) living in the community.
  • Ensuring health and safety, community inclusion, and daily living skills.
