About The Position

First Nations is seeking compassionate and skilled individuals for various in-home support positions in the Waite Park, MN region. This is a part-time role with the potential for full-time hours, offering competitive wages ranging from $17/hr. to $23/hr. Candidates with extensive Direct Support Professional (DSP) experience and/or education qualifications are eligible for the DSP role. Requirements

  • Ability to safely drive while providing transport in a qualified vehicle, based on required service needs; must hold a valid DL and current insurance.
  • 18+ years of age or older.
  • Ability to pass DHS background check/no conflicting criminal history record.
  • Must have the ability and willingness to work within a variety of assigned complex needs/population service lines/positions based on experience and availability.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to appropriately follow laws, respect individuals' homes, speak appropriately, while following policies and procedures, including but not limited to mandatory incident and emergency reporting.
  • Direct Support Professional (DSP): 2+ yrs experience required as a DSP.
  • Required experience serving in the capacity of Residential Living (Group/Foster Home), Crisis/Mental Health Center, Independent Living Skills Specialist (ILS), Individual Home Supports (IHS), Peer Support Specialist, or Mental Health Technician OR equivalent education metrics.

Nice To Haves

  • PCA/CFSS Services: 1+ yrs experience preferred as a Caregiver/PCA.
  • Experience in a caregiving capacity such as babysitting, childcare assistance, or professionally as a Patient Care Assistant, Home Health Aide (HHA), Resident Assistant (RA).
  • A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred (but not required).
  • Homemaker Services: No experience necessary.
  • Personal housekeeping and customer service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Abide by HIPAA and MN Department of Human Services Statutes Policies.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures in the MN DHS statutes as listed in assigned service line, including proper incident and emergency reporting.
  • Complete all service-specific MN DHS online, in-office, and in-person meetings and training courses by the assigned deadlines (Relias/STARs).
  • Exercise good judgment and discretion, work independently with minimal supervision while following safety standards, policies, instructions, and support plans.
  • Provide appropriate feedback and maintain boundaries; empathy, connection, and consideration are essential.
  • Efficiently navigate electronic verification for payroll, adhere to all billing policies, and follow documentation/shift-note standards.
  • Collaborate with individuals to maintain a stable, flexible schedule, troubleshoot issues, and communicate recurring conflicts effectively.
  • Handle housekeeping tasks such as taking out garbage, vacuuming, doing dishes, doing laundry, changing linens, dusting, mopping, cleaning surfaces, and cleaning bathrooms.
  • Move up to 40 lbs as needed.
  • Provide direct support for daily activities per the Individual’s Support/Care Plans, including all housekeeping, bathing/showers, bathroom/incontinence, meal prep, dressing, and mobility transfer standby.
  • Carefully document shift notes on assistance provided, adhering to 245d Standards and the support plan.
  • Follow housekeeping, care, and community duties as listed.
  • Comply with 245d Standards and the support plan, collaborating with the Individual to monitor mental health, develop goals, focus on activities/skills, and ensure proper documentation of outcomes and the individual’s status.
