About The Position

We are seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide one-on-one support to an individual with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. Personal Support Services professionals assist individuals and families living in their personal home. Individual programs are designed around the needs and desires of each participant and implemented with attention and care. Whether living alone or with family members, individually tailored services are the best way to support people on their own terms. Services provided are personalized and directed by the individual receiving supports and may include but are not limited to: assistance with personal hygiene, activities/outings, social engagement, and shopping. DSP’s assist with creating opportunities for individuals to live full and productive lives by: Assisting with participation and exploration of the community, Cultivating and expanding independent living skills, Assisting with development of meaningful and personal relationships, Implementing strategies to achieve individuals’ personal goals. Support is needed for a young man in the Howard County area. Assist with activities including: baseball, football (attend games, watch at local restaurants), spend time on educational videos (math, reading), board/card games, jokes, sign language, explore other fun activities in the community.

Requirements

  • High school degree/GED
  • Current driver’s license with less than three points on their driving record
  • Use of personal vehicle to provide transportation within the community
  • Use of personal cell phone for mobile punching and documentation
