About The Position

Make a meaningful impact while being part of a team dedicated to supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential setting. Southwest Center is currently hiring Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide support, supervision, and daily assistance to individuals living in our staffed residential homes. DSPs help create a safe, respectful, and engaging environment while supporting each individual’s personal goals, routines, and level of independence.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years old
Possess a high school diploma or GED
Successfully complete all required agency and regulatory training requirements
Maintain First Aid and CPR certification requirements
Pass required criminal background screenings
Pass pre-employment and random drug testing
Possess a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving history
Maintain current automobile insurance
Be dependable and available for assigned weekend and holiday shifts

Experience supporting adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities preferred

Responsibilities

Supporting individuals with daily routines and residential living activities
Assisting with personal care and hygiene needs when applicable
Encouraging participation in household, recreational, and community activities
Assisting individuals in working toward personal goals and greater independence
Implementing approved support strategies and behavior support plans
Completing required daily documentation and service notes
Transporting individuals in accordance with agency procedures when needed
Maintaining confidentiality, dignity, and respect for all individuals served
Communicating effectively with coworkers, supervisors, guardians, and interdisciplinary teams
Promoting a positive, safe, and person-centered environment within the home
