About The Position

Dungarvin is a mission-driven team dedicated to providing person-centered supports that enable individuals to live as independently as possible. We serve people with intellectual or developmental disabilities, or other complex medical needs. With services in 15 states, our team is united by a shared commitment to making a real difference. This role involves working directly with individuals in need of assistance. We are hiring a Direct Support Professional / Caregiver in Valparaiso, IN. Part-time and Full-time Shifts are available.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Computer skills for documentation.
• Good communication skills (reading, writing, and verbal).
• Must pass a successful background clearance.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience with intense high behaviors, both verbal and physical.
• Prior IDD, mental health, psychiatric, and/or security experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support, positive direction, instruction, and assistance to individuals with mental, intellectual & developmental, and physical disabilities.
• Empower individuals with disabilities to live as independently and comfortably as possible while maintaining their dignity and respect.
• Provide hands-on assistance, encouragement, mentoring, and guidance.
• Ensure the comfort, safety, and personal growth of the individuals we serve.
• Perform housekeeping and laundry duties.
• Assist with daily living tasks such as moving around, getting in and out of bed, dressing, bathing, toileting, personal hygiene and more.
• Document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with both internal and external team members.
