About The Position

Dungarvin is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver in Madison, WI. This role involves working directly with individuals who have intellectual or developmental disabilities, or other complex medical needs, providing person-centered support to help them live as independently as possible. The position offers a variety of full and part-time schedules. Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License (due to transporting persons served)
  • Excitement for working with adults with disabilities
  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Good communication skills (reading, writing, and communication) to document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with team members.
  • Successful background clearance
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Comfortable driving company vehicles to transport persons served as required
  • For some positions/locations: Own personal vehicle and auto-liability insurance may be required.
  • For Behavioral DSP roles: Prior experience with intense high behaviors, both verbal and physical.
  • For Behavioral DSP roles: Prior IDD, mental health, psychiatric, and/or security experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in a residential group home by helping people with disabilities achieve a variety of outcomes.
  • Assist with personal cares and provide normalization/community integration.
  • Provide support and mentorship with daily activities to those supported, ensuring their health and safety.
  • Help with meals, cleaning, housekeeping, laundry duties, and facilitating fun activities.
  • Provide hands-on mentoring to help individuals become more independent.
  • Provide positive direction to individuals to encourage them to achieve their personal goals.
  • Administer medication and ensure the person's medical well-being.
  • For Behavioral DSP roles: Provide supports to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, people who are faced with mental health, behavioral, and/or significant medical challenges.
  • For Behavioral DSP roles: Be patient, have good decision making and crisis management skills, and not be intimidated by intense high behaviors, both verbal and physical.
