About The Position

PathPoint is seeking full-time Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to join their day services team in Santa Maria, CA. This role involves providing skills training and behavioral support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The DSP will lead in-person and virtual classes, as well as facilitate outings and volunteer opportunities. The curriculum includes activities like art, music, and cooking, and the company encourages creativity and new curriculum ideas. PathPoint is a nonprofit organization focused on helping individuals flourish by fostering hope, building life skills, accessing support systems, and forming meaningful relationships across several California counties.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid California driver's license with a satisfactory driving record, 5 years of driving experience, and be eligible for coverage on PathPoint's auto insurance policy.
  • Culturally aware, acknowledges diverse employee backgrounds, possesses skills to collaborate across cultures, and avoids biased assumptions based on cultural differences.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities or disadvantages is desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Work with a small group of individuals in a facility-based or community-based program
  • Lead in-person and online groups that help individuals develop skills, which may include art, music, cooking, recreation, vocational skills, and more depending on your own talents and the interests of the people we support
  • Accompany groups on community outings for recreation or volunteer opportunities
  • Build friendly and professional rapport with individuals and act as a positive role model for work habits, communication skills, and social skills
  • May assist individuals with activities of daily living and personal care, which includes helping with meals and eating, toileting, transferring, changing, etc.
