About The Position

Mozaic (A Chapter of The Arc NY) is seeking compassionate and motivated Direct Support Professionals to support people with disabilities during daytime hours. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a meaningful role in supporting people diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live fulfilling, self-directed lives. In this position, you'll provide habilitation services while helping people we support achieve their personal goals, build independence, and make choices that matter to them. In this role, you'll actively support people we support in living meaningful, independent lives by facilitating person-centered activities each day that reflect their goals, interests, and choices. You'll serve as an advocate for their rights, health, and safety, while encouraging community involvement and helping them build confidence and independence in everyday settings. Your support will include assisting with personal care needs such as toileting, hand washing, and dining, as well as helping people develop essential life skills that promote health, safety, and overall well-being. You'll play an important part in implementing Staff Action Plan goals, documenting progress, and maintaining accurate records that reflect each person's achievements. In addition, you'll provide transportation for community outings, assist with safety procedures including fire drills, and contribute to creating a safe, supportive environment. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid New York Driver's License is required

Nice To Haves

  • Minimally one-year experience working with people with developmental disabilities or an associate degree in human services or related field is preferred.
