Direct Support Professional - Day Program
About The Position
Lirio Resources is seeking compassionate Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to assist individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities in living more independently and achieving their goals. DSPs provide support in various areas, including companionship, community engagement, life skills, personal hygiene, medication administration, money management, nutrition, home safety, and the proper use of appliances and adaptive devices. The role involves implementing person-centered individualized plans to help individuals thrive in vibrant communities. The organization is a not-for-profit with a mission to equip individuals and families with support for full participation in living, learning, working, and playing, aiming to build a vibrant community for all abilities.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must pass background checks.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must have a working vehicle.
- Must have personal vehicle insurance.
- Must have an acceptable driving record.
- Must be willing to work non-traditional hours (as required) to meet individual needs (evenings, weekends, and holidays).
- Excellent work and personal references required.
- No experience required.
Responsibilities
- Provide assistance to individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities to live an independent life.
- Offer companionship.
- Facilitate community engagement and socialization.
- Assist with life skills development.
- Support participation in community outings.
- Help with personal hygiene.
- Perform routine housekeeping tasks.
- Administer medications.
- Assist with money management.
- Support nutrition, grocery shopping, and cooking.
- Accompany individuals to medical appointments.
- Guide in the proper use of appliances and adaptive/assistive devices.
- Educate on home safety, first aid, and emergency procedures.
- Implement person-centered individualized plans.
- Complete all required written documentation and supporting reports of services provided.
- Manage a variable work schedule with good attendance and punctuality.
- Complete ongoing in-service and other educational training.
