About The Position

This position requires skill and motivation to assist individuals with developmental disabilities to achieve life goals so that they may live their lives in the least-restrictive environment. Semi-skilled direct care work includes observation and recording accurate data for further assessment. This position requires an individual who can project calm confidence at times of stress when helping others.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Current CPR certification.
• Current First Aid certification.
• Current Non-violent Crisis Systems certification.
• Current Medication Aid Certification.
• Ability to use a telephone.
• Basic computer skills.
• Reliable, safe transportation to get to work site.
• Ability/means to communicate/document important information.
• Ability to maneuver steps and other barriers to some apartments.
• Physical ability to transfer/lift individuals.
• Physical ability to help with personal care.
• Physical ability to perform other direct support duties.
• Four years of personal driving experience.

Nice To Haves

• Chauffeurs license.
• Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Ability to obtain a chauffer’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with developmental disabilities to achieve life goals.
• Provide supervision in the least-restrictive environment.
• Observe and record accurate data for further assessment.
• Project calm confidence at times of stress when helping others.
• Transport clients if needed.
• Perform medication administration.
• Perform CPR, First Aid, and crisis intervention techniques.
