About The Position

Skill Creations, Inc., a nonprofit agency, is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide care in the individual's home and/or in a community setting. This role involves supporting a college student with interests in chess, video games, and bike riding. A typical day may include walking the client's dog, getting food, and assisting with physical therapy exercises. The position offers the potential to be fun and rewarding, with a focus on creating life skills.

Requirements

High School, GED, or College Transcript from an accredited school.
Valid NC Driver's license and acceptable Driving Record.
Criminal Record Check.
Completion of paid training in CPR/First Aid and Behavior Management.
Basic computer skills for e-mail, electronic training modules, and data recording.
Ability to remain on one's feet most of the time.
Ability to lift 50 pounds, and to occasionally balance, bend, stoop, and kneel.
Prompt and regular attendance.
Ability to meet client-specific needs.

Enjoys goofing around and hanging out downtown.

Responsibilities

Provide support to a college student who likes goofing around and hanging out downtown.
Assist with ambulation, eating/drinking, and personal care.
Provide transport and companionship out in the community.
Engage in leisure activities together.
Support the client in achieving his personal goals.
Walk the client's dog.
Assist with physical therapy exercises.
