Direct Support Professional - Community-Based
About The Position
Wall Residences provides high-quality community services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are currently seeking Part-Time (PT) experienced Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) for our Community-Based Services in the Galax, Virginia area. Must be flexible to work evenings and weekends if needed. Our Community-Based DSP's support individuals in learning basic social skills, self-care, communication, exploring interest, and integrating into their community by accompanying them into the community. Outings are diverse and include recreational opportunities, volunteering, music and art classes, social events, and more in both indoor and outdoor settings.
Requirements
- Part-Time (PT) experienced Direct Support Professional (DSP).
- Flexible to work evenings and weekends.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to keep accurate notes.
- Active driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Minimum of 3 years of driving experience.
- No more than 2 moving violations or accidents within the past 3 years.
- No major violations within the past 5 years.
- References and criminal background check free of barrier crimes.
Responsibilities
- Support individuals in learning basic social skills, self-care, communication, and exploring interests.
- Integrate individuals into their community by accompanying them on outings.
- Accompany individuals to diverse activities including recreational opportunities, volunteering, music and art classes, and social events.
- Ensure continuity of quality care through accurate note-keeping.
- Act as mandated reporters of abuse and neglect for individuals with disabilities.
