About The Position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for providing direct support, hands-on instruction, assistance, and positive direction to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) in a manner that ensures their health, safety, successful achievement of service objectives, and personal goals. Enrich and support the lives of our residents while maintaining a safe and healthy environment. Provide companionship and personalized care while encouraging independence and self-care. Assist with activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, and eating. Complete medication administration and follow medical protocols. Prepare meals and snacks. Perform light housekeeping and laundry duties. Provide mobility and transfer assistance, which may include using mechanical lift devices. Implement positive behavior supports and de-escalate challenging behaviors when needed. Other duties as assigned. Requirements

  • Previous experience as a direct support professional or caregiver is preferred
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Person-centered focus

  • Ability to lift and transfer
  • Positive role-model for others and able to work on a team
  • Computer skills for documentation
  • 18 years or older
  • Good communication skills (reading, writing, and speaking) for documenting care, following support plans, and collaborating with team members
