The Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver Float provides direct care for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) within residential group homes in the Portland Metro Area. This is a full time, permanent position. Schedule for shifts subjected to change based on needs of programs, however schedules are given two weeks in advance. This position requires a dependable candidate who is flexible in their schedule, works well independently, and has exceptional communication and decision-making skills. Float DSPs are adaptable and will have the necessary skill set to be able to work at multiple homes. The role involves enriching and supporting the lives of residents while maintaining a safe and healthy environment, providing companionship and personalized care with respect and dignity while encouraging independence and self-care. Responsibilities include assisting patients with activities of daily living, preparing meals and snacks (may include grocery shopping), performing housekeeping and laundry duties, providing mobility and transfer assistance (which may include using mechanical lift devices), assisting with transportation needs for community outings, appointments, and errands, and implementing positive behavior supports and de-escalating challenging behaviors when needed. Other duties as assigned.
