About The Position

We are seeking a compassionate and dynamic Direct Support Professional to support a 35-year-old individual in the Syracuse area. This role focuses on independent living skills, volunteering in the community and participating in hobby, club, or class of interest. This individual enjoys going to the food pantry on Tuesdays and Thursdays, she also enjoys doing girly things, like getting nails done. This ideal candidate is preferably a woman, who likes to go into the community to shop, get nails done. This ideal candidate should be willing to take this individual into the community to explore her hobbies and interests. This is a part-time position, but additional hours are available with other people receiving services at the agency.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Ability to work independently in the person’s home and/or community.
  • Reliable with effective communication and organizational skills.
  • New York State Driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance are required.
  • Acceptable driving record required.
  • Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Flexibility with assignments and schedule required.
  • Reliable transportation to arrive to job site at scheduled time.
  • Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community and abide by Indera's technology policy.

Nice To Haves

  • No experience required but experience working with people with disabilities preferred.
  • Experience working with people with Developmental Disabilities preferred.
  • Preferably a woman who likes to go into the community to shop and get nails done.

Responsibilities

  • Support a 35-year-old individual in the Syracuse area.
  • Focus on independent living skills.
  • Assist with volunteering in the community.
  • Facilitate participation in hobbies, clubs, or classes of interest.
  • Accompany the individual to the food pantry on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • Engage in activities such as getting nails done.
  • Take the individual into the community to explore her hobbies and interests.
  • Be willing to take on additional hours with other people receiving services at the agency.
