The Direct Support Life Skills Trainer provides direct support and assistance to individuals in accordance with their service or program plans. This role involves helping individuals with socialization, behavioral development, personal care, housekeeping, recreational activities, transportation, community orientation, shopping, financial management, citizenship, and other activities of daily living. The trainer is responsible for accurately documenting progress and activity, maintaining confidentiality, and completing billing documentation. They also assist with money management, maintain professional relationships with individuals and their support networks, and report any instances of alleged abuse or neglect. Additionally, the trainer may accompany individuals to medical appointments, administer medications if assigned, monitor health, and prepare meals according to planned menus and individual dietary needs. Maintenance duties include transporting individuals, performing housekeeping, making minor repairs, and ensuring safety in various environments. The role requires adherence to all safety policies and procedures, participation in training, and effective teamwork.
