Devereux Florida provides programs and services for adolescents and adults who face significant emotional, behavioral and intellectual/developmental challenges. Located in Winter Park, FL, this position is responsible for: Providing Personal Care: Assist with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and meal preparation. Behavioral Support: Implement behavior management plans and support individuals in developing coping strategies. Skill Development: Facilitate skill-building activities, including social skills, communication, and life skills training. Crisis Intervention : Recognize signs of distress and de-escalate situations effectively and safely. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of client progress, incidents, and daily activities. Transportation: Assist clients with transportation to appointments, community activities, or school. Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists, nurses, and family members. Training and Education: Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on best practices in behavioral health support. Engagement and Crisis Support: Ensure all staff are actively engaging with individuals and provide assistance during crises when needed. Demonstrates Leadership and Delegates Tasks: Provide clear direction to staff, supervise daily operations, and delegate responsibilities to direct support professionals to ensure efficient service delivery.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required
One (1) year of experience working with persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities, or 1 year experience in a medical, psychiatric, nursing or related setting required
Must be able to complete a 2-week (Monday - Friday) new hire orientation class; hours are approximately 9:00am to 5:00pm each day.
Must be able to work holidays.
Must be able to work one weekend day.
Successfully pass pre-employment medical screenings which include: Drug Test, Physical, and TB Test.
Valid driver's license
Occasional driving of Devereux vehicles for business purposes.
Must be able to drive a car and a passenger van (which holds up to 15 passengers).
Successfully pass a Level 2 background screening with the State of Florida.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Social Work preferred
Post-Secondary education (i.e., college, vocational or technical training equal to 30 semester hours) may substitute for experience
