About The Position

Build meaningful connections through teaching independence to adults with developmental disabilities! This is a rewarding career opportunity providing supports to groups of adults who have intellectual/developmental disabilities. Teaching, mentoring, caregiving, medical monitoring, and hygiene assistance are a few of the roles. These supports are provided in group home settings. This is a positive and uplifting work environment - where you can make a difference. The weekend shift is a full-time consistent shift and will require attendance in our daytime training during the first couple of weeks. EOE. Hiring immediately!

Requirements

  • High school diploma or accredited GED
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record (less than four infractions/tickets)
  • Dependable transportation & proof of auto insurance
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs or ¼ of own body weight, whichever is less
  • Able to attend daytime training during the first weeks of employment

  • Work experience or knowledge regarding the needs of individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities is beneficial, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Maintain living space, personal hygiene and balance in their home life & weekly schedules
  • Participate in activities, exercise, use etiquette, improve coping skills & build self esteem
  • Plan & prepare meals, grocery shop, operate household appliances, and budget
  • Use community resources, understand their rights, and increase safety awareness
  • Prepare for and participate in leisure activities – Special Olympics, sports, dances, gatherings, etc.
  • Manage their sensory needs and maintain their own structured environment
  • Assisting individuals with hygiene/personal care.
