About The Position

Young Life is seeking individuals to join their Direct Ministry team. This role involves proclaiming and modeling the gospel of Jesus Christ through various ministry functions, including spiritual development, leadership development, resource development, direct ministry activities, and ministry support. The position requires a genuine commitment to Christian faith and adherence to Young Life's Statement of Faith and policies. Employees are expected to minister as servants of God, actively participating in the Christian mission of the organization. This role is based in Spokane, WA.

Requirements

  • Must have completed Core Training — Phase One.
  • Must have 1 or more clubs.
  • Experience in direct ministry.
  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must profess a belief in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord.
  • Must subscribe to the statements and policies required of all Young Life staff, including the Young Life Statement of Faith.
  • During working and nonworking hours, shall be ready, willing and able to fulfill ministry functions, refrain from conduct and statements that detract from biblical standards, and abide by all policies and practices of Young Life.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of at least two years as a Staff Associate.
  • Full-time staff are expected to complete a Training Timeline experience in non ASC years.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Must have completed Leadership I and II as a Staff Associate.

Responsibilities

  • Spiritual Development: Maintain a genuine commitment to understanding God's Word, personal and corporate prayer, active participation in a church community, and spiritual growth. Develop a yearly personal growth plan.
  • Leadership Development: Equip volunteer leaders, committee, and staff through care, recruiting, team building, training, supervision, and vision casting. Meet regularly with volunteer leaders, model excellence in ministry activities, and assist in training leaders and committee.
  • Resource Development: Raise financial support, maintain donor care practices, communicate ministry updates, develop strategic relationships with key adults, and plan/execute fundraising events. Become a respected Young Life steward in the community.
  • Direct Ministry: Engage in contact work, lead outreach meetings, lead Campaigners meetings, and implement summer and school-season camping strategies. Serve on a summer assignment at a Young Life camp annually. Research community and school demographics to assess ministry effectiveness.
  • Ministry Support: Adhere to all Young Life policies and procedures, manage finances with stewardship and accountability, set and review yearly ministry and personal goals, maintain accurate records, and provide clear communication.
