The Procurement Department plays a crucial role in ensuring the seamless flow of materials vital for manufacturing operations. By strategically sourcing and leading supplier relationships, the department drives cost efficiency, quality assurance, and supply chain reliability. It serves as a vital link between various functions, including Manufacturing across multiple regions, Engineering, Global Procurement, and Finance, fostering collaboration to meet organizational goals. The Direct Materials Procurement Manager supports the broader organization by leading initiatives that enhance operational performance and drive innovation. Through effective procurement strategies, risk management, and supplier partnerships, the role ensures uninterrupted production and aligns procurement activities with business objectives. This position is integral to achieving cost savings, optimizing supply chains, and supporting sustainable growth across the company.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or Operations is preferred.
  • Strong experience managing procurement areas such as raw materials, packaging, processing materials, resins, and manufacturing-related suppliers.
  • Experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience in strategic sourcing initiatives and contract management.
  • Proficiency in ERP/procurement systems such as SAP, Ariba, or Oracle.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • APICS, CPSM, CPM, or related procurement/supply chain certification is a plus.
  • Experience with commodity management, cost modeling, and supply risk mitigation.
  • Experience with sustainability and responsible sourcing initiatives.
  • Familiarity with digital tools and process enhancements in procurement.
  • Strong analytical skills for data-driven decision-making and reporting.
  • Experience in supplier development and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute sourcing category strategies to support manufacturing operations, comply with product specifications and the LEGO Group’s global standards, and deliver cost savings.
  • Collaborate across other regions and manufacturing sites to lead end-to-end procurement activities, including supplier selection, negotiations, and contract management.
  • Conduct cost analysis and develop negotiation tactics to ensure optimized materials cost structure in a high operating cost environment.
  • Lead supplier relationship management process, monitoring and reporting performance and managing suppliers to the standards of The LEGO Group.
  • Develop regional sourcing strategy that identifies and qualifies suppliers within proximity to the LEGO Manufacturing Virginia location.
  • Develop a risk resiliency road map by material category that Identifies and mitigates risks, includes cross functional insights, and ensures business continuity.
  • Conduct cost, capacity, and supplier capability analysis in support of total cost of ownership evaluations to enhance collaboration with regional and global procurement leaders and to drive improved outcomes for the Virigina site.
  • Provide leadership and influence among internal stakeholders to drive companywide cost initiatives in the Direct (BOM) spends.
  • Act as an ambassador of compliance ensure progress to the LEGO Group’s Responsible Business Practices program and sustainability agendas.
