About The Position

Looking for a job where you can make a real difference every day? As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at LSS, you’ll support people with identified needs as they pursue their hopes, dreams, and goals through person-centered care. This role involves building meaningful relationships, assisting with daily living activities, supporting community involvement, and monitoring health and well-being. The work environment is a residential group home setting supporting up to 4 people with identified needs, within a collaborative, mission-driven team focused on dignity, respect, and inclusion.

Requirements

  • A genuine heart for helping others —a passion for supporting people with identified needs as they work toward their own hopes, dreams, and goals through person-centered care
  • No prior experience or formal education required —we’ll provide the training and support you need to succeed
  • Comfort with basic computer use to help document care and stay connected with the team
  • Ability to read and write in English to ensure clear communication and quality support
  • A valid driver’s license and safe driving record, with the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Check
  • Ability to pass a DHS background check
  • 40% FTE or greater (to be eligible for hiring bonus)
  • Remain up to date on all trainings (to be eligible for hiring bonus)
  • Maintain employment in good standing (to be eligible for hiring bonus)
  • Work all scheduled shifts (to be eligible for hiring bonus)

Nice To Haves

  • Team members are trained to utilize medical equipment such as a nebulizers, oxygen, hoyer lift/track system and sit to stand as well as seizure disorders and protocols to follow (for Advanced Direct Support Professional role)
  • The individuals need full support in activities of daily living (for Advanced Direct Support Professional role)

Responsibilities

  • Build meaningful relationships while providing guidance, encouragement, and support
  • Assist with daily living activities such as personal care, hygiene needs, meals, household support/cleaning, and transportation
  • Support community involvement, social connections, and independent living skills
  • Advocate for people with identified needs’ rights, needs, and preferences
  • Monitor health and well-being and report changes as needed
  • Complete required documentation and participate in training and team meetings
  • Maintain documentation, perform record keeping, and participate in periodic meetings/trainings according to regulations (for overnight position)
  • Address concerns during the night and in the morning hours (for overnight position)
