About The Position

The CooperRiis at Asheville (CRA) Overnight Awake (ONA) Support Staff’s duties and responsibilities include oversight of the campus throughout their shift. ONA staff provide continuous safety monitoring for the campus and serve to create a safe and supportive environment for residents who are awake in the late evening and early morning. The ONA staff’s primary task is to ensure the fulfillment of CooperRiis’ mission by assisting residents in meeting the goals defined in their individual Recovery Plan. Assisting residents may include promoting and encouraging healthy sleep hygiene and providing appropriate support to residents in distress. ONA staff may also be assigned various administrative duties and other tasks that support the therapeutic community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience working with individuals whose lives are impeded by mental illness
  • 21 years or older with a valid driver’s license and clean driving record to be on organization’s auto insurance

Responsibilities

  • Has a thorough understanding of the CooperRiis at Asheville program and the (7) seven-domains enhanced model of recovery.
  • Supports residents in their recovery journey by following the clinical team’s guidance and providing crisis intervention, coping skill development, check-ins focused on active listening and self-care planning, and thoroughly documenting and communicating relevant information.
  • Stays awake for the entirety of their shift.
  • Works to ensure the safety and security of the CooperRiis campus both inside and outside the buildings as appropriate by doing hourly rounds of the buildings and grounds.
  • Supports residents in maintaining healthy sleep schedules or in activating other support resources in times of need or crisis.
