About The Position

This role involves providing direct care within a residential facility, focusing on the well-being and development of consumers, particularly children. The Direct Care Staff member will act in a parental capacity, ensuring the safety, privacy, and dignity of each consumer. Responsibilities include implementing treatment plans, managing client records, handling administrative duties, and maintaining the household. The position requires effective communication, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED.
  • 18 years of age.
  • Physically and mentally fit.
  • Individualized supervision plan will be developed upon hiring and supervision will be provided by a qualified professional or associate professional with the population served.

Nice To Haves

  • 6 months to a year experience working in a group home or with children.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate relevant consumer information to supervisors, Case Coordinator, and/or parents.
  • Provide privacy and confidentiality of all consumer records.
  • Assure consumers are free from abuse, mistreatment, and/or neglect and report any incidents of such to supervisor.
  • Treat each consumer with dignity and respect.
  • Complement all documentation related to Treatment Plans.
  • Develop and demonstrate a thorough understanding of philosophy and purpose.
  • Develop familiarity with the Treatment Plan of each consumer served.
  • Implement goals and recommendations and follow appropriate documentation procedures.
  • Provide a positive atmosphere which facilitates growth and learning.
  • Make decisions based on training and policies when unsupervised.
  • Perform duties as requested by Supervisor.
  • Execute all shift documentation.
  • Transport consumer to all scheduled and unscheduled appointments.
  • Attend staff and training meetings during time off.
  • Schedule and transport clients to all appointments, court hearings, and weekend visits.
  • Be responsible for clients during weekend visits, if suspended from school, or if they become ill or have nowhere to go.
  • Maintain an accurate record-keeping system regarding each client's file, medication/treatment charts, daily and weekly notes, other administrative duties, as well as the food budget, allowances, and trip fund.
  • Keep an inventory of equipment, tools, and the household.
  • Take care of all provided items and report any damages or concerns immediately to the Executive Director or Administrative Manager.
  • Give and receive information constructively and effectively, both verbally and writing.
  • Listen effectively to co-workers, clients, and supervision, and be open to their ideas and opinions.
  • Provide accurate, clear, and easy-to-follow directions/instructions.
  • Ensure written information/notes are legible, accurate, and contain detailed content.
  • Actively listen with the intent to understand.
  • Use and maintain efficient filing systems for storing and retrieving work unit documents and records.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date files and records.
  • Complete medication documentation, service notes, and daily notes.
  • Display fundamental work habits and behavior in the areas of work, organization and planning, flexibility and willingness to help others, ability to work under pressure and stressful conditions, following instructions and standard procedures, attendance, and use of company time.
  • Effectively plan and manage time by assigning priorities to daily and weekly activities.
  • Readily accept difficult work assignments, changes in work schedule/priorities, and help others during such times.
  • Follow instructions and use established work procedures; do not require excessive supervision/direction.
  • Arrive and leave work at scheduled time; notify supervisor in advance when going to be absent or late, or needing to leave work early; use break and lunch time as appropriate.
  • Promote teamwork by completing work in ways that support group objectives; informing teammates of work status, problems, and concerns in a timely manner; and working with teammates to ensure that all work is covered in the home in a consistent manner.
