About The Position

CooperRiis is a therapeutic healing community located in Mill Spring, NC. We are a Smoke/Drug/Alcohol Free Facility. This role serves as the primary welcoming and support for new residents, providing community orientation and ongoing support. The Direct Care Mental Health Recovery Coach acts as an ambassador for CooperRiis, offering tours and relationship-oriented coaching to help residents acclimate, engage in community life, and progress toward recovery. The position also involves assisting the clinical team in managing crisis situations, maintaining safety documentation, and providing medication and appointment reminders. Additionally, the role includes providing transportation for residents, supporting CWS crews, assisting in garden and greenhouse activities, and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience working with adults who have significant mental health challenges.
  • At least 21 years old with a current and valid North Carolina Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record per CooperRiis policy.
  • Experience or willingness to train in garden and greenhouse activities.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary welcoming and support for new residents, including community orientation and ongoing support.
  • Act as an ambassador for CooperRiis, providing tours to new residents, their families, and CRA residents when available.
  • Participate in team meetings and community activities such as morning and community meetings.
  • Provide relationship-oriented coaching and support to help residents acclimate to the CooperRiis community, fully engage in community life, and progress toward recovery.
  • Assist the clinical team in managing crisis situations, including one-to-one support for residents in crisis and observing community dynamics.
  • Maintain full knowledge of CooperRiis' risk level system, complete safety documentation, and document daily observations of residents when assigned.
  • Provide residents with reminders for taking scheduled medications and attending appointments with their clinical team, as well as offering general encouragement and coaching.
  • Participate in QMHP supervision and all mandatory training as per CooperRiis policies.
  • Provide transportation for residents to off-site appointments, in coordination with nursing and the Farm Program Director.
  • Support CWS crews as needed and lead a crew in the absence of a crew leader.
  • Assist in garden and greenhouse activities or show a willingness to train for backup roles in these areas.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Farm Program Director.
