About The Position

Direct Care staff at Centerboard are vital members of each youth’s treatment team. You’ll play a key role in maintaining a safe, structured, and trauma-informed environment while supporting youth through daily routines, emotional challenges, and skill development. You’ll actively teach healthier coping strategies, respond to crises, and model positive behaviors. Staff are expected to engage with youth compassionately, maintain detailed documentation, and help foster a safe, clean, and supportive living environment. Per Diem (Relief) staff are required to work at least two shifts per month and keep up with all necessary trainings for their position.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and be willing to use a personal vehicle when agency vehicles are unavailable.
  • Must pass an initial competency evaluation and participate in ongoing training and professional development.
  • Committed to fostering healthy connections with youth and upholding Centerboard’s values of culture and belonging.

Nice To Haves

  • college coursework or a degree is a plus
  • Experience working with youth or in a residential setting strongly preferred
  • Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and assist youth with activities including transportation, medical appointments, school, therapy, and life skills.
  • Complete daily logs, incident reports, progress notes, and required program paperwork.
  • Build healthy relationships, lead group and 1:1 sessions, and participate in daily activities.
  • Apply de-escalation and behavior management techniques as trained.
  • Participate in treatment meetings, maintain awareness of Individual Behavior Support Plans (IBSPs), and advocate for residents.
  • Maintain cleanliness, conduct room checks, plan and prep meals, and ensure safety protocols are followed.
  • Administer medications per MAP certification, complete random drug tests, and run fire drills as scheduled.
  • Relay information across shifts, utilize the On-Call system for support, and report concerns promptly.
  • Attend required trainings and track training hours in accordance with program and licensing standards.
