About The Position

Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) powers the American Express global payments network, enabling more than $1.9 trillion in annual spend across 170+ markets. The GMNS Product organization is responsible for delivering products, capabilities, and partnerships that enable merchants, acquirers, issuers, ISVs, payment facilitators, and other ecosystem partners to connect to and leverage the American Express Network with speed, scale, and reliability. This Director role is a critical member of the GMNS Product Business Operations team and will be responsible for leading key risk and control-related Product Governance processes across the GMNS Product organization. The successful candidate will drive governance, operational excellence, and risk management activities that ensure products and capabilities are developed, launched, refreshed, maintained, and retired in accordance with enterprise policies, risk frameworks, and regulatory expectations. The Director will serve as a key partner to Product, Control Management, GCO, Compliance, Risk, Technology, Operations, and other first- and second-line stakeholders to maintain a robust and sustainable product governance framework. The role will own product inventory management, support New Product Approval (AEMP54) governance, and partner closely with the GMNS Product partners to strengthen Product Lifecycle Governance from ideation through retirement. In addition to leading New Product Governance and Product Lifecycle Governance activities, the Director will serve as a flexible Business Operations leader capable of supporting a broad range of governance and risk management priorities, including Issue and ORE management, remediation oversight, RCSA execution, audit and exam coordination, and policy and regulatory change initiatives as organizational priorities evolve. This individual will be expected to flex across priorities and provide leadership support wherever the organization’s risk, governance, operational excellence, or regulatory needs require additional focus.
