About The Position

The main responsibility of this role is to provide exceptional dining service to the elders. This includes performing various duties related to meal service such as stocking, cleaning, catering, and preparing salads and desserts. The position also requires adherence to sanitation standards by maintaining a clean and sanitary workstation at all times.

Requirements

  • High school or GED preferred

Responsibilities

  • Sets up dining areas prior to meal serving time, adhering to safety and sanitation standards.
  • Greets residents as they enter and exit the dining room.
  • Serves residents in a prompt, efficient, and courteous manner.
  • Portions and plates salad or dessert items for meal service between meals.
  • Participates in salad and dessert preparation using standardized recipes and methods.
  • Correctly plates and serves meals in the dining room.
  • Checks food temperatures before, during, and after meal service.
  • Communicates resident dietary needs or difficulties to the Dining Services Manager and Registered Dietician, staying aware of diet changes.
  • Leaves dining rooms clean and sanitary.
  • Ensures food left in areas is properly stored, covered, labeled, and dated, discarding outdated items appropriately.
  • Maintains a professional appearance, clean and well-groomed per handbook and department standards.
  • Demonstrates complete understanding of department policies and procedures.
  • Exhibits outstanding attendance and punctuality, taking corrective action to prevent recurring absences.
  • Develops a positive working relationship with department and organization staff, avoiding conflict.
  • Participates in required training, including Silver Chair, departmental in-services, ServSafe, and reviews fire safety and disaster plans.
  • Completes assigned shift work timely and thoroughly according to department standards.
  • Delivers room trays when needed.
  • Discards waste and recyclables.
  • Monitors beverage temperatures and hold times for safety and quality.
  • Operates the computerized Point-of-Sale system to enter meal charges and a-la-carte purchases, and monitors guest counts.
