About The Position

Assist Managers in management of daily food & beverage service including á la carte and banquet events. Provide outstanding food & beverage service to Members and guests of Eastward Ho, and make sure the Club's standard operating procedures are being adhered to by all front of the house team members. Responsible for greeting members and guests upon arrival and send fond farewells when leaving, answering Host Desk phone calls and transfer to appropriate extensions, observing and evaluating workers and work procedures to ensure quality standards and service, assisting with setup, execution and breakdown of events, banquet functions and restaurant buffets, managing reservations, taking online and phone call to-go orders, assigning server sections, seating members and guests, completing daily reports and overseeing completion of daily checklists by front of house staff, ensuring all food and beverage sales are recorded properly, update POS with specials as needed, ensuring accuracy of menu and updating as needed, receiving beverage deliveries and ensuring accuracy of billing and delivery items, completing monthly beverage inventory, and collaborating with other Club personnel for inventory management and serving arrangements. Other duties include presenting menus, taking orders, and clearing tables, carrying dishes from dining room to kitchen, serving food and beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and assisting at the bar as needed. This is a position with supervisory responsibility. However, this position is not authorized to hire, fire, or discipline employees.

Requirements

  • Applicants must have at least 1 year of of experience in a fine-dining or high-volume environment at a high-end restaurant, resort, or private club required.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach, and also able to push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds.
  • All supervisors should be TIPS, ServSafe and Allergy Awareness certified within 60 days of starting the position. Eastward Ho will assist in this training.

Responsibilities

  • Treat each other with respect and dignity is every team member’s responsibility.
  • Greet Members and guests upon arrival and send fond farewells when leaving.
  • Act as “MOD” during absence of Managers.
  • Create daily floor plans, assign server sections and maintain walk-in sheets.
  • Make sure all reservations are setup correctly and both FOH & BOH have the most up to date reservation information when service begins.
  • Complete Daily Activity Report sheet and check for accuracy.
  • Seat Members according to floor plan, dining charts, or assign tables to servers as tables are being seated.
  • Serve food and beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) to Members and guests in proper manner.
  • Clean and sanitize all used menus.
  • When needed, present menus, take orders, relay order to kitchen via POS system, and help out behind bars.
  • Complete daily opening and closing side work and perform cleaning duties as assigned.
  • Responsible to check completion of daily checklists by all front of the house positions. Double check opening and closing shift side work to make sure SOPs are being followed and all tasks are being completely in a timely manner.
  • Clear tables and carry dishes from dining room to kitchen when necessary.
  • Maintain work area cleanliness and proper food service safety procedures.
  • Must have complete knowledge of menu and specials and be skilled at suggestive selling and upselling and have overall awareness of the Members’ and their guests’ needs.
  • Address all Members by names whenever possible and take responsibility to learn Members’ names.
  • Ensure all food & beverage sales are recorded properly.
  • Assist setup and breakdown of events, banquet functions and restaurant buffet setup, etc.
  • Assist in banquet setup, execution and breakdown as needed.
  • Update POS with daily, weekly specials, and daily count as needed.
  • Ensure accuracy of menus and update as needed.
  • Take notes of Member comments and relate all incidents, complaints, or positive comments to Managers.
  • Receive beverage deliveries and ensure accuracy billing and items.
  • Completely monthly beverage inventory.
  • Answer Host Desk phone calls and transfer to appropriate extensions.
  • Responsible for online and phone call to-go orders.
  • Perform any other reasonable job-related duties as instructed by the Manager(s).
