About The Position

The primary role of the Dining Program Manager is to run the kitchen including planning menus, ordering supplies, scheduling and supervising staff, and cooking. Ensures compliance with pertinent federal and state laws and board of health inspection standards.

  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing, particularly during emergencies.
  • Clean and professional presentation a must.
  • Requires ability to focus on details and multitask as situations demand.

  • Must be able to motivate and supervise staff.
  • General knowledge and understanding of nutrition and the needs of the elderly.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of quantity food production and serving techniques.
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitary nature of food surfaces and equipment.
  • Ability to budget and plan.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and participates in the preparation and serving of food.
  • Makes sure adequate supplies are on hand. When supplies are low, forwards list of needed supplies to supervisor or orders directly as directed.
  • Monitors the assigned lines in the budgets to ensure spending is within allowances.
  • Ensures cleanliness of kitchen and sanitation of all supplies and surfaces.
  • Ensures safe operation of equipment and provides safety training to staff.
  • Works with dietician to ensure adequate nutritional value of meals.
  • Responsive to customer preferences. Attends meetings with residents.
  • Maintains adequate records including inventory, meal counts, and personnel records.
  • Performs supervisory responsibilities including selection, training, scheduling, motivation, and evaluation of assigned personnel. Work with staff to correct deficiencies. Completes appropriate paperwork such as time cards and evaluations.
  • Maintains confidentiality of resident and employee information.
  • Keep supervisor adequately informed of any issues of concern.
  • Stay on top of developments in the field.
  • Other duties as assigned.
