About The Position

The Stratford Dining Manager directs and supervises the overall operation of Stratford Dining Services under the supervision of the Director of Dining Services in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.

Requirements

  • High school or GED, plus specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area, e.g. data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc, plus 2 years related experience and/or training, and 19 to 23 months related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Fulfills supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities may include but are not limited to interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Supervises a moderate-sized group (8-15) of employees, but possibly smaller if difficult, semi-technical work, requiring considerable direction and assistance, is involved.
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates work, makes decisions, and performs personally the more difficult aspects of the same broad assignment.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk hear.
  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Must have excellent balance and be able to climb a ladder and walk around a roof.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Able to work at heights.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Able to work on a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally with other on the phone or in person.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, in-servicing, and terminating staff according to Vicar's Landing policies and other regulatory agencies. Promote the philosophy of fine dining and commitment to excellence. Ensure that proper techniques are used when serving and preparing food for the membership. Complete all paperwork for Stratford dining employees including schedule, new employee files and all reviews in a timely manner. Review employee punch details and schedules for compliance with department regulations and budget.
  • Cook meats, fish and fowl and plate up meals as orders are placed, being aware of presentation, accuracy of order and portion sizes. Prepare special order items. Show artistic initiative in meal preparation and presentation.
  • Obey and enforce all safety and sanitation guidelines set up by the Dining Services Department, Vicar's Landing as well as federal, state, and local laws. Assure daily and scheduled cleaning duties are performed and clean as you go is enforced. Assure food is properly stored, labeled, covered, and dated. Assure that all food storage spaces are properly arranged and clean. Ensure that all equipment is clean and sanitary. Maintain assigned work standards in a safe and sanitary condition. Reports all accidents/incidents and fills out required reports as directed. Utilize safety awareness and incentive programs.
  • Maintain and enforce acceptable standards of personal hygiene and department dress code.
  • Ensure that all Members are pleased with the meal and service. Visit the Dining Room on a regular basis. Visit all Stratford move ins within 2 weeks of their moving in for Dining Services orientation to Stratford Dining Services.
  • Revise menu cycles quarterly including production sheets. Assist in planning menus for one special dinner monthly, working with Activities.
  • Seek out and accept additional responsibilities.
  • Supervise the entire department in the absence of Director and/or other Managers.
  • Attend In-service training and members meeting as required.
  • Report to work as scheduled. Excellent attendance is most important for delivery of the best service to the Members.
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate or as may be directed by your supervisor or any other member of the management staff.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
