About The Position

Rhoads Industries is seeking a Dimensional Metrology & Analysis Engineer to support the construction of large-scale welded metal structures. This role is part of the Accuracy Control team and focuses on using advanced metrology tools like Spatial Analyzer (SA) and laser tracker systems to ensure measurement accuracy, interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) datasets, and mitigate fabrication risks through documentation and statistical analysis. The position requires a strong understanding of fabrication processes, procedural sequences, and measurement methodologies to ensure consistency, repeatability, and compliance throughout all build stages. The ideal candidate will validate SA model fit, interpret deviations, and use structured data to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions, bridging the gap between raw measurement data and strategic engineering decisions for both production and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Similar + 2-years’ experience required
  • Knowledge of GD&T principles and dimensional tolerance analysis
  • Familiarity with laser tracker systems, and CAD software logic
  • Familiarity with Metrology software (Spatial Analyzer (SA) preferred)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including functions, graphical reporting
  • Understanding of welded structure fabrication practices, weld distortion mechanics, and construction sequencing logic
  • Ability to interpret technician notes, disposition records, and field feedback
  • Technical writing and reporting capabilities
  • Collaborative mindset with strong communication skills across various disciplines, trades, and management audiences

Nice To Haves

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • Previous metrology experience
  • Background in mathematics, data analytics, or fabrication engineering

Responsibilities

  • Review and validate 3D measurement models created in Spatial Analyzer for fit accuracy, coordinate system logic, and reference relationships
  • Analyze GD&T-driven datasets comparing actual measurements to drawing specifications, identifying meaningful deviations across evolving build stages
  • Apply and interpret statistical analysis models to detect trends in measurement data, including frequency, severity, and progression patterns across subassemblies
  • Translate data trends into practical recommendations for corrective action, including rework guidance, remeasurement, or procedural adjustments
  • Monitor the applicability and consistency of fabrication sequence procedures, confirming alignment with measurement intent and recommending updates where necessary
  • Document findings and notes regarding measurement data, and track trade disposition process
  • Construct automated Excel/VBA tools to manage progression tracking, deviation scoring, and key performance indicators
  • Prepare and distribute weekly reports summarizing dimensional risk areas, root cause investigations, and recommendations
  • Serve as the liaison between measurement technicians, planning engineers, shop floor teams, and senior leadership
  • Additional duties as assigned

Benefits

  • Competitive health insurance packages
  • 401k matching
  • PTO
